Makko Powder (Japan)

Makko is the Japanese word for the generic term "incense powder." Makko powder is a neutral-scented, naturally combustible, water-soluble binding ingredient. It can be combined with any type of incense recipe to make incense trails, molds, sticks, and cones.

Why makko?

Used instead of charcoal to burn incense ingredients and mixtures, as in the incense trail style of burning. It does not affect the pure natural scents of the other ingredients, so what you smell is your blend, not the binder.

How to use

Blend with powdered resins, herbs, or woods and water to form your incense, then shape as trails, molds, sticks, or cones.
