Burning Incense Sticks: Fill the base of the incense holder with rocks or sand. Light your incense stick, blow out flame and allow it to come to a smolder. Securely stand the incense stick upright into the sand. Shorten the incense stick if necessary in order to securely stand it upright.
Burning Incense Cones: Fill base of incense holder with sand or rocks. Place burner on ceramic coaster to protect counter top, as the base of the burner may get hot. Place lit incense cone on top of sand or rocks. Allow to burn with the lid removed. Incense will not burn with the lid in place.

What is Soapstone?
Soapstone is natural rock and cool to the touch and some consider it to be therapeutic. Soapstone is unique, and often no two pieces are exactly alike, the color may vary slightly from item to item, and from the picture. Soapstone is created by nature, composed of talc, quartz and various minerals that has compressed over millions of years. Soapstone has many properties that make it desirable for carving, including its softness, which makes it easy to work with. Soapstone is also resistant to heat, making it a good choice for fireplaces, wood stoves, and cookware.
