Frankincense is obtained from trees of the Boswellia family.  The frankincense tree produces a resin which 'leaks' out from the bark solidifying into “tears”.  It is available in various grades, which depends on the time of harvesting and what part of the tree it is taken from. The resin is then hand-sorted for quality.
